One of the most exciting aspects of design is seeing your ideas come to life. Whether you’re an architect, interior designer, or just someone with a passion for creativity, bringing your designs to fruition can be a truly rewarding experience. That’s why at Acrylax, we offer Corian CNC cutting and engraving solutions so that you can turn your innovative design concepts into tangible products.
Corian is a solid surface material made of acrylic polymer and natural minerals. DuPont created it in the 1960s and has since become a popular choice for countertops, furniture, and other design applications. The material is known for its durability, non-porous surface, and wide range of color options.
CNC (Computer Numerical Control) cutting uses computer-controlled machines to cut various materials accurately and precisely. When combined, Corian CNC cutting allows for intricate and accurate cuts on the solid surface material, making it perfect for creating complex designs.
With our advanced Corian CNC cutting technology, we can bring your design ideas to life in various ways. Here are some of the benefits you can expect when working with us:

Vector files work best. DXF is most common, and DWG, AI, SVG, and PDF vector exports usually work too but needs extra modifications. For 3D carving or relief work, DXF files let the machine read depth as well as outline. Rough sketches or reference photos are a reasonable starting point. They just need to be turned into a clean, scaled drawing before Corian CNC cutting begins, so build that step into your timeline.
Corian is usually supplied in 6mm, 9mm, 12mm, 20mm and 24mm sheets, and each suits different work. The 6mm sheets suit wall cladding, backlit panels, and anything that will be thermoformed into curves. Most countertops and furniture use 12mm. The 20mm sheets are best for heavy-duty tops or deep engraving, where the extra material lets the router cut deeper without weakening the piece.
Yes, if you choose the right color. Lighter and translucent Corian shades let light through, and the effect gets stronger as the material gets thinner. Designers use this to make glowing logos, patterned feature walls, and illuminated bar fronts. With Corian CNC cutting, the router can thin specific areas of a panel so that only the pattern glows and the rest of the surface stays solid. Darker colors and heavily speckled patterns block most light, so test a sample before you commit.
Long reception desks and kitchen islands often need more than one sheet. The panels are cut with matching edges, bonded with a color-matched joint adhesive, and sanded until the seam is very hard to see. Precise Corian CNC cutting is needed here because the tighter the two edges fit, the thinner the glue line and the less visible the joint. Seams on solid colors are close to invisible.
Sharp inside corners are the most common problem. Square-cut internal corners, such as those on a sink or cooktop cutout, concentrate stress and can crack over time, especially near heat. Rounding those corners even slightly makes the piece much stronger. Very thin bridges of material between cutouts are also fragile, as are fine engraved lines that are packed too closely together. A good fabricator will flag these issues at the drawing stage, before any Corian CNC cutting takes place, which is much cheaper than finding out after the sheet has been cut.
